The American Initiative for Italian Culture (AIFIC)’s mission is to enrich the cultural exchange between the United States and Italy through bi-lateral exchange programs with a goal to fostering greater appreciation and understanding of both the American and Italian cultures.
2013 was the Year of Italian Culture in the United States. AIFIC was formed as a result of the work of its board and executive members who partnered with Italian cultural, artistic and educational organizations as well as the Italian Embassy, to bring a wide range of Italian cultural events to the Washington, DC area during 2013.
AIFIC’s goal is to sustain this celebration and to preserve its legacy by expanding the platform for dialogue and cultural exchange through new and innovative programs.
The American Initiative for Italian Culture (AIFIC) was incorporated on February 19, 2013, as a nonprofit corporation in the District of Columbia. AIFIC qualifies as an organization exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Tax ID: EIN 46-2339743).
How We Work
AIFIC is an incubator for the creative development of young Italian and American artists in the areas of music, literature, art and film.
AIFIC identifies and facilitates artistic exchanges and experiences to foster cultural understanding.
AIFIC mobilizes resources and capabilities on a national and international scale to catalyzes innovative projects, research and educational programs.
One of the AIFIC goals is to highlight artistic and cultural efforts in small communities and non-traditional geographic hubs, both the United States and Italy, creating better cultural understanding through a focus on emerging dynamic communities.
AIFIC seeks in the future to create opportunities for internships and grants for American and Italian students in the Arts.
